The Vardaman Rams’ soccer season came to a close Monday night with an 8-1 loss to Madison St. Joe in the Class 1A/2A/3A state quarterfinals.
Senior Ismael Rios scored the lone goal for the Rams who finished the season 10-4.
“We ran into a really talented St. Joe team that challenged us all over the field,” Coach Joel McNeece said. “Despite the loss, advancing to the state quarterfinals in only our second year was a big accomplishment. We’re very proud of the work this team has put in and look forward to next year.”
The Rams will lose six seniors off this year’s team –Rios, Bryan Gonzalez, Vicente Gonzalez, Samuel Lopez, Jr. Rios and Eric Solis.
“Kids have worked hard all year,” Coach Josh Warren said. “We’re proud of the progress of the program and all the support we’ve received.”
