Grenada Lake is full; saw the new moon

The late country music singer, Johnny Horten, made famous a song “North to Alaska.” That song could have been written 125 years ago this week. The famous “Alaska Gold Rush” began June 16, 1896.

Sunday, June 20 is Father’s Day with special recognition given them that day in area churches.
June 20 marks the first day of summer. We have been very fortunate temperature wise this spring.
Lost some plums last week due to the excessive rains. They were almost ripe and popped open.
Record breaking rain was received in the area last week with amounts across the county 8” to 10”.
Walnut Creek overflowed some in our area only the second time in almost 20 years.
Grenada Lake is almost full. The water was backed into the emergency spillway Friday but it appeared to lack about 3’ overflowing.

Saw the new moon Saturday. According to some, should not have excessive rain for the next 30 days.
Frances Bennett reports a good fruit crop. Her plums and early peaches were recently gathered by Jeff and distributed among the family.
Jerry Murphree states his peaches have started turning ripe at Reid.
Some are reporting a wilt among their tomatoes.
Marvis Goodson’s are looking better. He was disappointed in them earlier.

Numerous prayer requests at church Sunday. Some are critically ill.
Covid is still in the area. Some are reported developing it even after the vaccine.
Sympathy to all bereaved including the family of Dorothy Baker.
