Aim to work together in Derma; Sawmill Festival coming

By Published On: June 16, 2021

The municipal elections are over now. Thank you for the support I received for my re-election. I am hoping with our new mayor and new board member that we can have a board that can work together for the better of Derma. It is so hard to get the things done we’d like to, but with all the state regulations telling us what we can and can not do it is hard.

The rains have been so bad, and I know flooding happens to us, but trying to get the Corp of Engineers to clean out the canals, ditches, and river is almost impossible. Anyway, we will continue to try and do the best we are allowed to do. If you missed going to the Calhoun City Community Market Saturday, you missed out on some good buys. I went early because I knew if I wanted to buy a few things I had better get there early. They will have these market days each Saturday from June-October 8 AM to 12 PM. There were several vendors and I understand more have already signed up for the following dates. In just a few more weeks Bruce will hold their 30th Annual Sawmill Festival. Dates are July 9 and 10, and I hear vendors are signing up.

The music lineup for Friday night is at 7 PM Hannah & Karly, 8:15 PM Spunk Monkees, then Saturday times are to be posted later, but Jessey Higdon band, Kim & Duck and Saturday night at 6:30 PM Vinnie Cheney, and at 8 PM Bonfire Orchestra. This is usually a large event, so take your chairs and enjoy the day. Some weeks it seems as though the prayer list just grows larger than the week before. I know it could fill up a page if I only knew of all that are fighting their medical battles. This week though pray for comfort, healing, His will be done for Calvin Barnett, Zane Ragon, Shirley Curtis, Mary Sue Wells, Sheryl Fleming, Shirley Herrod, Jimmy Coker, Ann Whitt, Robert Marascalco, Anthony and Pam Bollinger, Patricia, and Henry Lee Taylor and wife Linda. It was so good to see Henry Lee able to be at church Sunday.

Our sympathy and prayers for comfort to the families and friends of Randy Jones, Kathryn Anglin, and Michael Shields. They will be missed by the many that knew and loved them.
