World Imports In Bruce Closes

By JOEL McNEECE
World Imports Limited has closed its Bruce facility less than a year after opening.

The international furniture importer and distributor based out of Philadelphia, Penn. opened its new distribution center in May of 2009 after leasing the former Mid-South Marketing building on Hwy. 32 from Dewey Bollinger. The Mid-South management team and employees were hired to run the operation. Mid-South closed in February 2009 after 20 years of business in Bruce.
Marc Luber, president of World Imports, said the size of the facility and the lack of access to major highways presented too many problems to overcome.
“It’s very disappointing, but a move we had to make,” Luber said. “We have great respect for the Bollinger family and have enjoyed our relationship with them.”
The business employed eight people locally.
