Calhoun City hosted its first official powerlifting meet last Saturday and finished first within its division.
Calhoun City finished with 65 total points, to East Webster’s 41, Houston 29, West Lowndes 18, Smithville five.
Wildcats earning individual honors in their weight class included Rainer Nichols, 3rd; Trey Brownlee, 1st; James Treadwell, 1st; Avery Hill, 1st; Ricky Conley, 3rd; Jonathan Reynolds, 1st; Anthony Hobson, 2nd; Jarvis Rounds, 2nd; Elliot Womack, 1st; Marquez Jones, 1st; Raheem Roberson, 2nd; Charvis Pierce, 3rd; KarDevin Thomas, 3rd; T.J. Clanton, 1st; Rokedrick Mayes, 4th; Toney Armstrong, 5th; Ladarius Conner, 5th; and Lavarious Varnado, 4th.
Lifters earn points in three competitions – squat, bench press, and dead lift – with the total points determining overall winners.
Raheem Roberson recorded the highest squat in the meet at 485 pounds. T.J. Clanton tied for the largest bench press at 300 pounds.
