The Vardaman Rams plan to retire Odie Armstrong’s number in a 6:40 p.m. pre-game ceremony Friday night before the Rams take on Houlka.
He set a Mississippi high-school record with 39 rushing touchdowns his senior year.
He starred at running back for Itawamba Community College and then finished his college career at Northwestern Oklahoma State University where he was a 2005 NAIA 2nd Team All American.
Armstrong began his professional career with the Tulsa Talons of the Arena Football League.
He played a season with the California Redwoods of the UFL before returning to Arena Football and the Orlando Predators.
The past two seasons he has played fullback for the Arizona Rattlers, both years making it to the Arena Bowl Championship. Last season the Rattlers won the title.
