Vardaman Rams clinch 1-1A title with 60-6 win at TCPS

The Vardaman Rams locked up the Region 1-1A championship Friday night with a 60-6 win at TCPS.

The Rams, 7-3 overall and 7-0 in region play, finish the regular season at home next Thursday against Thrasher.

Winless TCPS offered little resistance Friday night as the Rams raced out to a 28-0 lead in the opening quarter.

Aaron Dauzat opened the scoring on the first possession of the game when he returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown.

Cody Jenkins threw two first quarter touchdown passes – 28 yards to Donta Walker and 24 yards to James Avant. Dillon Landreth added a 1-yard TD run for the 28-0 score.

Jenkins added three more passing touchdowns in the second quarter. Two of those went to Ta West and one to Quon Cummings for a 47-0 half-time lead.

The clock ran continuously in the second half as the Rams tacked on two more scores – an 8-yard run by Walker and a 15-yard run by Tavis Townsend.
