The Vardaman Lady Rams capped a perfect season in Region 4-1A by winning the region tournament championship Friday night in Tremont.
The Lady Rams defeated Houlka in the title game 49-25.
Vardaman was never challenged in the game, leading by double-digits from the middle of the second period on.
The win clinched a home playoff game against Thrasher Monday night, the first for a Vardaman basketball team in more than a decade.
A win Monday would advance the Lady Rams to the North Half Tournament at H.W. Byers.
The boys’ team will be on the road Tuesday night at Biggersville after a fourth place finish in the tournament.
They lost 59-53 to Smithville Friday night in the consolation game. Dustin Sanford led all scorers with 18 points. Tavis Townsend added 13.
