Bruce and Calhoun City both matched up with big region opponents Tuesday night. When it was all over it was the Trojans who had improved their footing.
Blake Peden earned the win and Jay King the save as the Trojans three-hit Hatley to earn a 3-2 victory.
Tim Mathis keyed a 3-run fourth inning for the Trojans with a home run.
The win improved Bruce to 9-3 overall and 4-2 in region play.
The Wildcats dropped a 13-3 decision to visiting Ingomar.
Raheem Roberson took the loss after surrendering eight runs in 3.2 innings. Charlie Easley, Joshua Warren and Tyler Gray all pitched in relief.
Gray had a single and a run scored. Roberson drove in a run on a sacrifice fly. Jarvis Rounds recorded a single and a run scored. Charlie Easley had an RBI single and Warren scored the other Wildcat run after drawing a walk.
Calhoun City is scheduled to play at Inomar Friday, weather permitting.
Bruce hosts its tournament Saturday.

12:00 – Harding Academy vs. Bruce
2:00 – Ingomar vs. Harding Academy
4:00 – Ingomar vs. Bruce
