The Bruce Trojans will begin playoff action this Friday when they visit Ackerman in a best of three series. Games two and three, if necessary, will be at Bruce on Saturday.
Bruce split their last two district games to enter the playoffs as a two seed.
The Trojans, 12-7 overall, 7-3 in district, defeated East Webster last Friday in dramatic fashion.
Trailing 4-3 entering the bottom of the seventh, Senior Tiny Moore delivered a two-run walk-off home run down the left field line. It was his first home run of his high school career.
Jay King earned the win in relief of Reed Gregory. Combined they only allowed East Webster five hits.
Codie McMahan also had two hits in the game for Bruce. Gregory had a home run.
Monday night they were defeated by Calhoun City in the last inning. Colin Gaskin laid down a perfect suicide squeeze bunt in the seventh to break a five all tie.
After surrendering a leadoff double to Tiny Moore in the bottom of the seventh, Raheem Roberson shut down the next three batters to preserve a 6-5 win for the visiting Wildcats.
Jay King suffered the loss for Bruce. Reed Gregory and Chase Clark also pitched in the game.
Friday’s playoff game at Ackerman begins at 6:30 p.m. Saturday’s games will begin at 2 p.m.
