The Bruce Trojans unveiled a new football uniform over the Fourth of July holiday.

Paula Hamblin-Lorenz, of Little Rock, was inducted into the USA Deaf Basketball Hall of Fame as a player. The induction ceremony took place in Oakland, CA in April for the 25th Anniversary of the USADB Women’s tournament.
This was 35 years ago at the 1980 men’s State Amateur on the practice tee at Northwood Country Club in Meridian. The day’s golf was over, but on one end of the practice range Mike Taylor was hitting 2-iron after 2-iron, each with a slight draw, to a caddy more than 220 yards away. The guy was catching them on one hop with a baseball glove.
Angie Owen, of Bruce, accomplished nearly all you can accomplish in 2014-15. She led the Bruce Lady Trojans to a state championship in powerlifting and was recently awarded Powerlifting Coach of the Year for all classifications by the Mississippi Association of coaches.
Calhoun Academy held their junior high cheer camp recently at Calhoun Academy. Four tried out for UCA and were chosen for All-America Cheerleader.
The Bruce Trojans won the 16U Dizzy Dean State Championship last week at Horn Lake. The Trojans swept Olive Branch and Horn Lake twice for the title. They will advance to the World Series at Snowden Grove in Southaven on July 17.
The Bruce Museum 5K Color Run will be Saturday, July 11 during the Bruce Sawmill Festival.
