Southern Belle Originals started 10 years ago as a small business in Calhoun City and has grown to become a wholesale distributor with 200 dealers across eight states.
A portion of proceeds from their “Southern Belles Do Believe in Miracles” T-shirt benefits NMMC Breast Care Center patients by providing mammograms for medically under-served women in this region.
The 2009 donation marks the second one from Southern Belle Originals for this purpose.
“Contributing to the Patient Assistance Fund was our best option for reaching the people we want to help,” said Kim Lovorn, owner of Southern Belle Originals. “This money will stay local to help women in our communities. In addition, Southern Belle Originals presents each newly-diagnosed breast cancer patient with a care package. We want these ladies to know that we really support them.”
The first donation of $10,000 in 2008 has already funded 45 screening mammograms for women who couldn’t afford them, as well as 125 care packages for newly-diagnosed breast cancer patients.
The “Southern Belles Do Believe in Miracles” T-shirt is available in pale pink and yellow haze for $18.95 at www.southernbellestore.com and includes free shipping.
