Freezing rain and falling temperatures prompted early closures of Calhoun County schools.
All schools in the county, public and private, dismissed students at 1:45 p.m. Monday.
Calhoun Academy announced Monday they would not hold school on Tuesday.
Calhoun County public schools did return to campus Tuesday morning.
Calhoun County is currently under a “winter weather advisory” until noon today (Tuesday).
Ice and sleet accumulations are possible up to a quarter of an inch creating threatening driving conditions.
Precipitation is expected to continue falling throughout the night with temperatures hovering around freezing until mid-day Tuesday.
