Sales Tax Returns Down In Calhoun

Calhoun County sales tax returns were down in February and remain down
overall for the current fiscal year, primarily due to a large decrease
in Bruce.

Calhoun County sales tax returns were down in February and remain down overall for the current fiscal year, primarily due to a large decrease in Bruce.
Bruce was down more than $3,000 in sales tax returns in February, bringing the decrease for the current fiscal year (July -June 30) to more than $16,000 below last year. Calhoun City was down more than $1,300 in February, but remains up for the current year by almost $5,500.
Vardaman was up in February by $1,300 and is up for the year by more than $4,000.
Derma was also up slightly in both February and its yearly total. Big Creek is down nearly $1,000 for the year while Pittsboro and Slate Springs are virtually even.
Sales tax returns statewide were down approximately $600,000 in February and are more than $4 million off the year-to-date pace.
