Stacy Rimmer, of Slate Springs, was sentenced to serve 25 years in prison in a recent sentencing hearing at the Calhoun County Courthouse in Pittsboro.
Rimmer, 38, was found guilty by a Calhoun County jury of one count each of sexual battery and child abuse in a January trial. He was originally arrested and charged with five rapes in March 2007.
The sentencing was postponed until Feb. 11 where Rimmer appeared before Judge Robert Elliott. Rimmer was sentenced to 30 years, with five suspended and 25 to serve on the sexual battery count. He was sentenced to 10 years, with three suspended and seven to serve on the child abuse charge. Both sentences are to run concurrent.
Rimmer’s Attorney, David Hill of Oxford, filed a motion for a new trial on Monday, Feb. 23. A hearing date for that motion has not yet been set.
Rimmer has since been transported to Parchman to begin serving his sentence.
