Calhoun City Begins Powerlifting

Calhoun City High School began its first venture into powerlifting
competition with a lift-a-thon last Saturday at the CCES gymnasium.

Calhoun City High School began its first venture into powerlifting competition with a lift-a-thon last Saturday at the CCES gymnasium.
Coach Perry Liles is leading the power lifting Wildcats whose first official competition is Jan. 16 at Nettleton.
Last Saturday’s event provided a warm up for the upcoming  season for the near 40 boys and girls that participated in  the lift-a-thon. 
The biggest lifts of the day were 300 lb. deadlift by Lindsey Liles in the girls division and Rokedrick Mays’ 435 lb. deadlift in the boys division. 
The season schedule for Calhoun City is as follows: Jan. 16 Nettleton Girls’ Invitational, 3:30 p.m.; Jan. 24 Wildcat Invitational at 9 a.m. (Oxford, Houston, East Webster, South Panola, Smithville, Holly Springs); Jan. 26 Lady Wildcat Invitational at 3:30 p.m. (Oxford, Velma Jackson, Pontotoc, South Panola); Feb. 14    Region 1-1A Boys Meet    at Calhoun City beginning at 9 a.m.; Feb. 16 Region 2-3A Boys Meet at Calhoun City at 3:30 p.m.; Feb. 17 Region 1-2A Boys Meet at Calhoun City at 3:30 p.m.; Feb. 28 Girls Class I North State at McClain; March 7 Boys 1A North State; April 4 Boys and Girls State Meet in Jackson.
