The University of Southern Mississippi Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing student who may be in the Bruce area.
Steven Clay McGehee, 21, a freshman from Horn Lake, is a white male about 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes. The last known contact with McGehee was via text message in the early morning hours of Nov. 6. His roommate reported him missing.
“Right now he is listed as a missing person at risk because, based on the evidence we’ve obtained, we believe he may do harm to himself,” Southern Miss Police Chief Bob Hopkins said in a statement.
Investigators say McGehee could have travelled to either Horn Lake, which is in DeSoto County, or near Bruce, which is in Calhoun County. No connection to Calhoun County was provided to suggest why he may be in the area.
He drives a red 2001 Ford Escort with DeSoto County license plate DCP-744.
Anyone with information about McGehee or his whereabouts is asked to call UMS Police at (601) 266-4986 or their local law enforcement agency.
