Meth Lab Found In ‘City; Four Arrested

Four arrests were made when Calhoun County law enforcement discovered a meth lab in Calhoun City over the weekend.

Four arrests were made when Calhoun County law enforcement discovered a meth lab in Calhoun City over the weekend.
Arrested were:
•Billy S. Chandler, Jr., 23, of Calhoun City, charged with manufacturing of controlled substance, possession of meth, possession of paraphernalia and possession of marijuana;
•John Roy Tharp, 22, of Calhoun City,  charged with manufacturing of controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and possession of meth;
•Samantha Elmore, 23, FW, originally from Grenada county, but now living in Calhoun City, charged with driving while license suspended and conspiracy to commit a crime; and
•Tabitha M. Welch, 21, originally from Grenada county, but now living in Calhoun City, charged with possession of controlled substance, possession of beer, possession of drug paraphernalia and conspiracy to commit a crime.
The four were arrested at Tharp’s home at 501 N. Main Extended.
Deputy Dean Poynor said after receiving a tip about the lab, they got a search warrant and went to the Tharp home around 9 p.m. where they found a small amount of meth, a small amount of marijuana, a meth lab and a rifle.
Poynor said that although no children were in the home at the time, there was evidence that children were living there. Some of the paraphernalia was found in a closet among diapers.
All four are still in custody. Calhoun City Police Department assisted Calhoun County Sheriff’s Dept. with the arrests.
