A Bruce man has been charged with burglary at the Calhoun County Solid Waste Facility where he also took a pickup.
Deferra Justice, 25, was arrested Tuesday and charged with grand larceny and burglary of a commercial building.
According to Sheriff Billy Mac Gore, someone reported the door open at the solid waste building around 10:30 last Saturday night.
Gore said that Deputy Stan Evans went to the scene where he discovered a door knob pried off, but determined that entry to the building was through a window on the east side.
Gore said Evans discovered graffiti on a drink machine and other vandalism. He said that Justice apparently took a key to the truck, a 1999 Ford 250 pickup which was parked at the facility, along with anti-freeze and other items. The vehicle was discovered abandoned on Bailey Street in Bruce about half a block from where Justice lives the next day.
Justice had been working at the Solid Waste facility to work off old fines, Gore said, but had just completed the work toward the fines.
Justice remains in the Calhoun County Jail.
