Loggins Classic Wraps Up

Vardaman was the lone county winner in a busy day of boys’ basketball last Friday in Calhoun City for the annual Coach Loggins Classic.
Vardaman defeated Amory 66-60 in an afternoon game. Sergio Prescott scored 27 and Damon Johnson 19 to lead the Rams who opened a big lead early and held on late for the victory.
Bruce fell to Houston 92-64. Shaunvanta Ingram led the Trojans with 20 points. Marcell Gaston added 14, Rod Harris 12, and Devin Tillman 11.
Evander Wofford led Houston with 24 points.
Calhoun City was defeated by Shannon 79-69 in the finale.
Demarius Howard led the Wildcats with 16 points. Marcus Jennings added 13, Brandon Lawrence 12, and Dylan Turner 10.
Denardo Watkins led Shannon with 25 points.
Other games during the day included a 89-67 win by Nettleton over Charleston.
Aberdeen defeated New Hope 57-56. Okolona defeated Kosciusko 64-62.
A special ceremony was held also during the day’s events to honor Coach Henry Loggins and former Calhoun City Principal Leonard Holland.
