The Calhoun City Lady Wildcats followed their season-opening victory over Bruce with a 9-8 win against Independence.
Lindsey Liles earned the win on the mound.
‘City trailed 7-2 entering the sixth inning when they rallied for seven runs to take the lead. Taylor Rodgers and Liles each had two RBIs in the game.
Independence loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh threatening a come-from-behind victory when Courtney Williams caught the final out in the outfield to preserve the victory.
The Lady Wildcats’ Monday game with Charleston was postponed until Tuesday, too late for this edition. They play at Smithville Thursday and in the Calhoun County Tournament at Vardaman Friday. See the schedule in the story above.
