He was appointed godfather to Stephanie Berry, the daughter of Daniel and Sandra Berry. He made a profession of faith at an early age at the First Baptist Church of Byhalia. |

Thomas Earl Hardin, 71, of Mooreville, died Saturday, April 24, 2010 at NMMC in Tupelo. He was born February 24, 1939 in Calhoun County, the son of Earl B. and Vernie Vanlandingham Hardin. He was retired from the Federal Aviation Administration, served in the U.S. Army and was a member of Freewill Baptist Church in Tupelo. He was an instructor in the robotics program at ICC. |

Vallie Ferretti Giompoletti, 95, of Shaw died Monday, April 19, 2010 at Bolivar Medical Center. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 22, 2010 at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Shaw. Burial will follow in Shaw Cemetery under the direction of Ray Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 6-7 p.m. today, Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at the church, with a Rosary following at 7 p.m. and a visitation again from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at the church, prior to the service. |

Moriah Baptist Church, Sunday School teacher, Eastern Star, and Worthy Matron. |
Gene Welch, 62, of Bruce, died Friday, April 9, 2010 in Oxford. He was born October 6, 1947 in New Orleans, La. He was a member of Bruce First Baptist Church, and was a graduate of Meridian High School and the University of Southern Mississippi. He served as a member of the Jaycees in Tupelo. He was a former member and past president of Bruce Rotary Club. While a member, he received Rotary’s highest honor, the Paul Harris Fellow award. He was also a former member and past president of Bruce Chamber of Commerce. He was voted Chamber Member of the Year and Citizen of the Year. He was co-founder of Bruce Furniture?Industries, which was named Business of the Year. He was also owner of Leatherworks South and Lakefield Designs. He was currently employed with Beckett Oil Properties. He was an avid football fan, who followed the LSU?Tigers and New Orleans Saints, and he loved NASCAR and golf. He also enjoyed spending time cooking and grilling for his family and friends.?His laugh will be missed by all. |

Willie Young, 84 of Waterloo, Ia., and formerly of Bruce, died Sunday, March 21, 2010, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home of natural causes. He was born June 7, 1925, in Holly Springs, the son of Joe Young and Connie Hearns. He married Annie Flakes May 17, 1948 in Bruce. During Mr. Young’s work career he sawmilled, worked construction, and did janitorial work. |
