Caviness Assists In HIV/AIDS Awareness Effort PDF Print E-mail

New York City AIDS Activist, Victor Mooney, recently got another partner to help bring attention towards HIV/AIDS in America and Africa – Caviness Woodworking in Calhoun City.
ann2At the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis Conference in Washington, D.C. this month, Mooney presented donated paddles produced at the Calhoun City plant to some leaders in the fight against AIDS.
On World AIDS Day, Mooney will be making his third attempt to cross the Atlantic Ocean from Africa to New York's Brooklyn Bridge by rowboat, with the help of some paddles from Caviness.
“I have been using Caviness products for years and we thank them for supporting this cause,” said Mooney. “I'll certainly have a pair of wooden oars for the trip, which will have a commemorative design (red-white-blue).”
The 44-year old activist has lost one brother to AIDS and has another battling the disease. He hopes this journey will encourage more people to get tested for HIV/AIDS.
Mooney along with his custom Caviness oars will also visit some countries in Africa before setting off from Cape Verde.
The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is also supporting Mooney's efforts.  For more information you may visit: www.goreechallenge.com.
