Man Arrested After Crashing Through Building PDF Print E-mail

A Pittsboro man is in the Calhoun County Jail facing numerous charges after crashing his vehicle through the wall of a building on the Pittsboro Square early Monday morning.
Calhoun Deputy Wayne Plunk said Malcolm Moore, 21, was traveling north on Hwy. 9 around the courthouse when he left the highway at 2 a.m. Plunk said Moore clipped a Nissan Maxima in the parking lot in front of the Pittsboro Post Office and then careened toward the building owned by Rose Turner Reges on the north side of the square by Pittsboro Town Hall.
Moore’s car came to a stop in the building before crashing through the rear wall. He was uninjured.
Plunk said Moore left the scene of the accident, after being picked up, but later returned to the scene while authorities were there.
He is charged with DUI?first, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, driving with a suspended driver’s license, and no insurance.
