The Calhoun City Board of Aldermen set rental fees for their upstairs and downstairs meeting rooms at their regular meeting last night.
The fee will be $100 for use of the room and $100 deposit with the deposit to be refundable upon inspection by a member of the city hall staff. They agreed that no fee would be charged for any public entity such as government or schools. However, a waiver of liability will be required.
They also agreed to allocate $3,260 for use of repairing, repainting and general outside maintenance to the former Kellwood Outlet Store next to the Calhoun County Career and Technical Center. The building is used by the VFW, who will provide the labor. The matter of replacement of windows and how many to keep will be brought up at a later date. Mayor J. R. Denton told the board it is a good building and will remain so as long as it is maintained.
Only one bid, that of Richard Clark for $150, was submitted for a 1997 police car that is no longer being used.
Approval was given to advertise for the city depository with bids to be opened at the January meeting. Denton said the matter has to be bid every two years.
Contracts were approved for maintenance on BBI software for $6570 and hardware support for $600.
Approval was given for Deputy Clerk Raenell Moore to attend certification classes in Oxford in February and BBI Software Update Training in Jackson, also in February.
Denton announced that a retirement reception will be held for City Clerk Faye Spratlin on Sunday, Dec. 13 from 2-4 p.m. at the City Hall.
