Vardaman board of aldermen further discussed their new property maintenance and zoning ordinances and possibly making some amendments.
Mayor James Casey said they have run into some issues that are not covered in the ordinance that need to be looked at, such as dealing with livestock in the city limits, creating some R&D zoning and possibly requiring existing junkyards, recycling and salvage operations to have a license from the city.
After discussion, they agreed to keep looking into the matter.
In another matter, they rejected all quotes for repair of the city hall roof and will take new ones through December 15. The repair  was declared as an emergency.
The board also approved:
•Renewing the Cemetery CD for six months at 1.2%. Mayor Casey said they still plan to finish the loop of paving at the cemetery when it gets dry enough.
•Refurbishing the more than 30 year old Christmas decorations that are used on Main St. Town clerk Barbara Tedder said the 13 trees could be redone for around $2,900. New ones would cost more than $600 each and would not be the same quality as the old ones. The repairs would not be made in time to use this year.
•Adopting the tax rolls at 38 mills.
•Police taser policy for the town that the police department has been operating under. Police Chief Calvin Barnett said they have been operating under the same policy that the state uses, as well as Calhoun City and Houston.
•Approved paying volunteer firemen for attending drills from October to date.
•Approved putting new fire truck in the Calhoun City Christmas parade.
Mayor Casey also informed the board of an increase in the PERS employer contribution rate increase July 2010 of 1.56 percent.
