Arrest Made In Murder Of Former Calhoun Pastor PDF Print E-mail

The Rev. Jimmy Stauddy and his caregiver, Martha Stoker, were killed a week ago in an apparent argument over $8 needed to purchase illegal drugs, according to Grenada County Sheriff Alton Strider.

John Wayne McChriston, 22, of Holcomb, has been charged with two counts of capital murder in the case. He is being held in the Grenada County Jail without bond. It wasn't immediately clear if McChriston has an attorney.
Strider told the Greenwood Commonwealth that McChriston has a history of drug arrests.
McChriston, the sheriff said, told investigators that he "needed $10 for a hit. He had $2 and he needed another $8."
Strider said he went to Stauddy's home because he had worked for Stauddy in the past.
Strider said McChriston has told investigators that he "got into it" with Stoker, Stauddy's live-in caregiver, and at some point, McChriston stabbed both Stoker, 47, and Stauddy, 69.
Family members have said that Stauddy required a live-in caregiver because he was suffering from Parkinson's disease and other disabilities, which left him in a wheelchair.
