| Recent CCHS Grad Killed In Accident |

By JOEL McNEECE Carlton Lee “Tiger” Dover, Jr., 20, died Saturday, Nov. 14 as the result of a motor vehicle accident in Calhoun County. Dover, a 2008 graduate of Calhoun City High School, was a long-time manager for the Wildcat football team and a manager/member of the baseball team. “Carlton would give the shirt off his back to help anybody,” Calhoun City High School Principal Mike Ray said. “He was a good-hearted person.”The accident occurred on Oldtown Road at approximately 9:20 p.m. Dover’s vehicle left the road in a curve, landing upside down in a creek. Authorities said neighbors heard the impact of the crash and called 911. Rescue units from Pittsboro and Bruce waded in the waist deep water as they pried the driver door open to pull Dover from the vehicle. He was loaded in an ambulance and transported to Calhoun Health Services where he was later pronounced dead. Services were held Monday with burial in Carey Springs Cemetery in Randolph. Survivors include his father, Carlton Lee Dover, Sr. of Vardaman; his mother Melinda Lee Schmidt of Thorn; three brothers: Joe Seth Dover of Pontotoc, Elton Chester Dover of Pontotoc, and Christopher Lucas Dover of Houlka; and three sisters: Carlyn Leigh Jenkins of Paris, MS, Dana Lanell Ninnemann of Savannah, GA, and Brandy Presley of Houston. |
