By JOEL?McNEECE The Derma Board of Aldermen accepted a bid for a weather warning system at last week’s meeting. Two bids were received for the system with the board settling on the higher bid of $15,285 from Precision Communications. The low bid was from Early Warning Systems in the amount of $14,570. The board determined the higher bid to be the “best bid” because that company had prior experience in other local municipalities and they have locally trained service technicians. Early Warning Systems did not have anyone in the state to service the equipment. The board also approved payment of $475 to Macon Mapping of Slate Springs to update the town’s property ownership cards and maps for 2009. The board approved a contract between the town and Derma Fire Department to enable the department to become eligible for rebate money. A separate contract between the fire department and the county was also approved. |
