CLEVELAND, Miss. – The No. 13 Statesmen (6-0) of Delta State University claimed their sixth straight victory 11-2 over the Delta Devils (0-3) of Mississippi Valley State University on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at Ferriss Field. DSU finished the day with 11 runs on 12 hits with one error, while MVSU closed out the contest with two runs on 10 hits and two errors.

Adam Hood said he didn’t pick baseball, but it picked him. Growing up in Guntown, Miss., Hood was an avid baseball and basketball player.
“I always heard when you play multiple sports you don’t pick your sport, it picks you,” Hood said. “I guess baseball picked me.”

Taylor Shoemake, above, scored 16 points, including four three-pointers, as the Bruce Trojans defeated Shelby Broadstreet 66-52 Thursday night in the 2A North State Quarterfinals at Hickory Flat. The Trojans face S.V. Marshall tonight at 7:30 p.m. with a trip to Jackson on the line. The Lady Trojans were also victorious Thursday, defeating Baldwyn 55-52 at North State in New Site.
