By JOEL McNEECE Norwood pled guilty before Judge Andrew Howorth in Okolona Tuesday afternoon. She was sentenced to 20 years, with six suspended and 14 years to serve. She was charged with manslaughter for the stabbing of Frank Winters, 53, of Grenada County. The incident occurred a year ago at 309 South Washington Street in Calhoun City. Sheriff Greg Pollan, who was Asst. Chief of Police at the time, said the victim was lying in the floor when officers arrived at the scene with a large knife by his side. Winters was transported by ambulance to Calhoun Health Services where he died later that night. Norwood and Winters allegedly got in a domestic argument that escalated. Norwood was arrested when she returned to the scene later on the night of the incident. |
