By JOEL McNEECE
Supervisors re-appointed Calhoun City Fire Chief Mike Dunagin as Emergency Management Director for the county by a 4-1 vote at last Friday's meeting in Pittsboro.

The board previously voted Chris Williams as the new county fire coordinator succeeding Dunagin. The board failed to name an Emergency Management Director during that meeting, which has also been held by Dunagin.
Supervisors acknowledged they were unaware at the time of appointing a county fire coordinator that the positions were separate.
Dunagin expressed to the board at Friday's meeting that he is still interested in serving as emergency management director.
Barney Wade made a motion to split the position allowing Dunagin to continue in the emergency management position.
Each position is paid $800 a month. Tony Morgan seconded Wade's motion.
“There aren't any hard feelings on my part, but I think the position should be kept together as it always has,” Supervisor J.B. Rogers said.
The board voted 4-1 to split the positions between Williams and Dunagin with Rogers voting against.
In other news, Sheriff Greg Pollan’s appointment of Bryan Roberts as jail administrator was approved by the board. Bruce Police Chief Stan Evans held the position under Sheriff Gore.
Pollan said Roberts' pay would be increased $2,000 for the administrative position.
The board accepted a bid from BancorpSouth as the county depository for 2012.
The board accepted a quote from Hancock Bank for 2.29% interest rate for four years on a tractor purchase for district two. The other quote received was from Trustmark for 2.84%.
The annual inspection of the county airport revealed the beacon light, several runway light bulbs and a circuit board need replacing. The board authorized those repairs/replacements.
Calhoun Economic Development Association Director Terry Fales told the board that Supply Chain Solutions, a supplier for Haworth, is getting “up and running” in the Bruce Furniture building and should employ 20 or more local people.
Fales said he is working to provide logistics support for the company that moved to Bruce to be closer to Haworth.
“We were excited to hear that the new jobs created by the company would be filled by local people,” Fales said.
Work on paving of the road behind the Haworth plant will begin as soon as the bidding process is complete, Fales said.
He told the board he recently met with Haworth and Weyerhaeuser officials to introduce new Mississippi Development Authority Director Frank Short to them.
Fales reminded the board of the Jan. 26 CEDA banquet at the Methodist Corner in Calhoun City. U.S. Rep. Alan Nunnelee will be the featured speaker.
