Cougars Host Macon Central Friday

By JOEL McNEECE
Calhoun Academy got its best defensive effort of the year, but it wasn’t enough to prevent a 32-6 loss at Rebul Academy.

“I was proud of our effort on defense,” Cougar Coach Jeff Dalton said. “We held Rebul 22 points below their scoring average. We just didn’t make the key plays when we had to to have a chance to win.”
Alan Woodcock led the defensive charge with 11 tackles. Dustin Willis, Derek Hood and Storm Lasster all contributed six tackles each.
The Cougars’ lone score came in the fourth quarter on a 55-yard run by QB?Danny Joe Norman. Hood also played some of the game at QB along with Hunter Harmon.
“We just couldn’t get anything going on offense,” coach Dalton said. “The line just didn’t block for us.”
Things don’t get any easier for the Cougars this week as they host undefeated and highly ranked Central Academy from Macon. The Cougars will then have a week off before hosting Delta Academy on Oct. 16 for homecoming.
