Christmas Open Houses, Vardaman Sweet Potato Festival make for busy weekend in Calhoun

This will be a busy weekend for Calhoun County with the 39th Annual Vardaman Sweet Potato Festival in Vardaman and Christmas Open Houses hosted by numerous businesses in Bruce and Calhoun City.

Both the Bruce and Calhoun City Chambers of Commerce are promoting this weekend’s Christmas Open House with area businesses.

Among the chamber members participating in Calhoun City are Insurance Solutions, Studio on the Square, Chandler Drugs, Nana’s Attic, Southern Belle, Off The Alley, Ruth’s Drapery and other local merchants.

Bruce businesses include Jeffery’s, The Grapevine, Connie’s Flowers and Gifts, Artifacts, Created Designs on Hwy. 9W, Deer Run Pottery at the Oldtown Road intersection, and many more.

Chickenbone Fire Department will be cooking chicken and pork loin plates in Bruce next to Connie’s from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Bruce Museum will host lots of activities with Calhoun Cares sponsoring a Christmas Open House from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and 1-5 p.m. on Sunday.

Among the many items available will be Barn Wood Angels, pottery, metal flowers, crochet, hand painted items, homemade aprons, homemade laundry soap, candle’s, women’s clothing, homemade cakes and pies, and much more.
Door prizes will be awarded every hour.
