•QUICK BITES meets Thursday, Mar. 26  at noon at the Multi-Purpose Building in Pittsboro. Program will be Ready for Something “Wild” in Your Backyard?– creating an environment that attracts wildlife to your yard.

•NORTH CALHOUN GRADUATES of 1952-1970 are raising funds to place a memorial stone on the grounds of the school in Bruce. An account has been set up by Leon Harris for donations at BancorpSouth and the address for mailing is P.O. Box 368, Bruce, MS 38915.

•ACCOUNT FOR EXPENSES OF LAKYN BURT has been set up at BancorpSouth, P.O. Box 368, Bruce, MS 38915. Burt, 16, is hospitalized at UAB in Birmingham where she is expected to stay until she receives a lung transplant.

•Fine Arts Club of Bruce will hold its 18th annual Spring Salad Luncheon Friday, Mar. 27 from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Bruce First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.  Tickets are $6, dine in or carry out, and are available at Jeffery’s or from any club member.  All proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.

•Bruce jr/sr prom fundraiser day Saturday, Mar. 28, Bruce National Guard building. •JACK & JILL SOFTBALl TOURNAMENT  & Chicken Dinner fundraiser will be Saturday, Apr. 11 at Calhoun Academy. Event is to raise money for injured students Hannah Tedder and Claire Carter. Tournament team entry fee is $100, team is 5 girls/5 boys minimum. Deadline to enter is Apr. 1. Game times will be announced April 4 at noon. Chicken Dinner will be April 11 at CA baseball field. •EXCEL CPR Class scheduled for Saturday, April 11. Two sessions:  9 a.m-noon or 12:30 -3:30 p.m. Two year certification in CPR and AED. Cost is $35 and must pay at registration. Limited class size. Register by April 9. Call 628-5165.

•EXCEL Art on the Square – Basic Drawing Techniques for Depth and Perspective, a 3-week series from April 13-May 1; classes scheduled Tuesday evenings 7-9 p.m. and Friday mornings 10 a.m.-noon. •ServSafe Food Certification Class will be taught Tuesday, Apr. 14, beginning at 7:30 a.m. Certification exam will begin around 4 p.m. Class will be held at the Yalobusha County Extension Service. •FREE ADULT READING AND WRITING HELP. Bruce First Baptist Church is offering free help to any adult who wants to learn to read or improve their reading ability. All tutors have been certified by the Mississippi Baptist Literacy Missions Board. The tutoring session will be once per week for one to one and a half hours and are confidential. Sessions will be held at a day and time to be arranged between the learner and the tutor. Each learner will be matched with one tutor. •CALHOUN COUNTY TRANSIT BUS (formerly LIFT bus) has routes available to Oxford, Pontotoc, Houston and Grenada for doctors’ appointments and to fill prescriptions. Ages 59 and under rate is $6.
