•Calhoun Co. Schools K4/K5 Kindergarten registration will be Wednesday, Apr. 16, from 4-6 p.m. All children who will begin either K4 or K5 for the first time in August should enroll for classes during the registration  which will be at each elementary school in the county. New students must have: Certified birth certificate, social security card, immunization Certificate of Compliance from the Health Dept., two proofs of residence with 911 address listed. •QUICK BITES will be Thursday, Apr. 17 at noon at the Multi-Purpose Building in Pittsboro. Dr. Wayne Porter will show how to construct and use a rain barrel.

•Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, Apr. 17, at 2  p.m. in its headquarters the former Presbyterian Church in Coffeeville.  Speaker will be John Nelson who will talk about the 27th Infantry, Tallahatchie County. Visitors are welcome.

•4-H Kids in the Kitchen club will meet Thursday, Apr. 17 at 3:30 at the Multi-Purpose Building in Pittsboro. Call 662-412-3177 for more information.

•BAKE?SALE… 20th Century Club is having a Bake Sale Good Friday in front of Piggly Wiggly beginning at 9 a.m. Proceeds to club projects.

•DERMA?CLEAN?UP?DAY is this Friday, Apr. 18 all day. Garbage bags and gloves will be available at city hall for citizens wanting to help in the effort. Call City Hall for info, 628-6635.

•EASTER?EGG?HUNT &?SPRING?FEST on Bruce Square this Saturday, April 19. Easter Bunny, Resurrection Story, crafts and activities begin at 10 a.m. Easter Hat Parade at 10:30 with prizes awarded. Egg Hunt begins at 11 with three age groups (1-4, 5-7 and 8-10) with prizes in each age group. Contact Becky Wright at 983-2527 or 983-8836 for information. •58th anniversary of bruce high school Class of 1956 will be Saturday, April 19 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the multi-purpose center in Pittsboro. Lunch will be pot-luck. Classmates, spouses, friends and relatives are all invited.

•JUNIORETTES APPLICATIONS for 10th,11th and 12th grade girls are available in the offices of Bruce High School and Calhoun Academy. Home-schooled students may also apply. Deadline to turn in applications is April 18 to school or to Carol Shoemaker at the Bruce Chamber of Commerce office 662-983-2220. Bruce Fine Arts Club is sponsor for the Juniorettes.

•Annual McCormick Reunion Sunday, Apr. 20 around 11 a.m. at the Multi-Purpose Building in Pittsboro. Bring a dish. All are invited.

•FAIR?BOARD?SCHOLARSHIP… Applications are being taken for the Calhoun County Fair Board Scholarship. Applications are at the Calhoun County Extension Office. The $300 scholarship will be awarded to a 4-H/FFA member who has been active in 4-H/FFA for the past three  years and is a graduating high school senior or college freshman. Scholarship awarded on the basis of Calhoun County Fair participation and leadership, academic record, need and career aspirations. Application must be completed and postmarked by April 21. •Leader Training will be at the Multi-Purpose Building Tuesday, Apr. 22 at 10 a.m. with Legacy Hospice. They will present the benefits of hospice and becoming a hospice volunteer. Everyone is welcome.

•MHV BLUE RIBBON CAMPAIGN WORKDAY Tuesday, Apr. 22, at 11 a.m. at multi-purpose building. Volunteers  needed to pack bags for 4th graders in county schools for child abuse prevention campaign. Please have individually wrapped candy items here prior to workday.

•QUICK BITES Thursday, Apr. 24 at noon at the multi-purpose building in Pittsboro. Dr. Blake Layton will present “Protecting Your House from Termites.”

•SAWMILL?QUEEN?TEA… GFWC-MFWC Twentieth Century Club of Bruce will hold the Sawmill Festival Queen tea Thursday, Apr. 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Bruce Forestry Museum. Applicants must be a resident of Bruce or Pittsboro and a student at Bruce High School or Calhoun Academy in grades 11 or 12. Sawmill Festival Queen will be awarded the Charlotte B. •VA MObile rural Health outreach… Jackson VA is setting up a mobile health clinic at Rocky Mt. MB Church Saturday, Apr. 26 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Services available include eligibility determination, registration, enrollment in MyHealthVet, physical exams, patient education, vet center information, benefits info, cemetery info, female vets info and more. •annual O. L. Alexander family reunion will be at noon Saturday, Apr. 26 at the Vardaman Community Center on Hwy 341, north of Vardaman.

•Derma Volunteer Fire Dept. will have a benefit fundraiser Crawfish Boil Saturday, May 3, at 5 p.m. $9 per pound. Fire dept. is at 315 E Veteran’s Blvd in Derma.

•Voter?ID?PROGRAM…  will have be Thursday, May 15 at 7 p.m. at the Courthouse in Pittsboro. Speaker will be Rita Wray, founder & CEO of Wray Enterprises, Inc., a national independent health care consulting firm. Wray is a nationally recognized consultant/facilitator in the areas of regulatory compliance, risk management, leadership development, organizational effectiveness and strategic planning. The event is sponsored by Calhoun County Republican Women.

•BEAVER?BOUNTY PROGRAM… Calhoun County Soil Conservation District is administering a beaver control program for landowners in Calhoun County. A $12.50 bounty will be paid for each beaver tail brought in. They must be brought in by landowner, who is required to sign verifying that these were removed from his property in Calhoun and show the site where caught on the map. Maximum number of beaver tails per landowner each year is 40. Trappers may be hired for assistance in beaver removal, but bounty is paid to the landowner. Call 628-8732 ext. 3 for more information.

•Biennial Hellums family reunion will be Saturday, June 14 at Hopewell Primitive Baptist Church on CR 885 (Robbs Road) in Pontotoc County. Church opens at 9 a.m., potluck lunch at noon and fellowship following.

•DERMA?SCHOOL?REUNION… Calhoun County Agricultural High School and Derma School will have a reunion Saturday, July 5 at 1 p.m. at the Multipurpose Bldg. in Pittsboro. More information will be released later.
