•ANGIE WELDON RETIREMENT RECEPTION will be Wednesday, May 22 from 3-5 p.m. at the Bruce Museum on the Bruce Square. Mrs. Weldon is retiring as Bruce Elementary Principal and 37 years in the field of education. All are invited.

•PAULA MONAGHAN RETIREMENT RECEPTION will be Thursday, May 23 from 2-4 p.m. at the Bruce Upper Elementary Library. Mrs. Monaghan, who is principal at Bruce Upper Elementary School, has 27 years in education. All are invited.

•QUICK BITES Thursday, May 23, at 12 noon at the Multipurpose Building. Program will be on growing vegetables and fruit for your family in your home landscape. Everyone is welcome.

•JUDY DOOLITTLE and CAROL EASLEY will be honored with a retirement reception Friday, May 24 at noon in the Vardaman High School Library.

•RANDY “COWBOY” TURNER Benefit/Auction to assist with medical bills following his open heart surgery will be Saturday, May 25 at 5 p.m. at the Old Fred’s Auction building on the Square in Bruce. •Calhoun County MHV Council will meet Tuesday, May 28, at 9 a.m. Leader Training will follow at 10 a.m. with  “Overview of MSU Extension eBEAT Program”, presented by Chip Templeton.  Everyone is invited to come learn more about Broadband. There will also be a brief Ladies’ Fair Meeting at 11 a.m.

•QUICK BITES Thursday, May 30, at 12 noon at the Multipurpose Building. Program will be on insects affecting people outdoors. Everyone is welcome.

•BRO. REX WILBURN of Bruce United Methodist Church will be honored at a reception hosted by the Bruce Chamber of Commerce Saturday, June 1 at the Bruce Museum from 6-9 pm. Everyone is welcome.

•PRYOR and DENTON REUNION June 1, Bruce Community Center. All family and friends invited. Bring your favorite dish and join us for lunch.

•DORIS FERGUSON, of Calhoun City, will be honored with a 90th birthday celebration Sunday, June 2 from 2-4 p.m. at the Methodist Corner on the Calhoun City Square. All are invited to attend.

•CHARLIE AND MARY LANGLEY DYE REUNION June 2, 10 a.m. at Bentley Community Center on CR?418, Calhoun City. (Alternate route is Blue House Road, south of Calhoun City.) Bring your favorite food. All are welcome.

•MAGNOLIA GIRLS’ STATE will be June 2-7 at the University of Southern Mississippi. You must be a high school junior to apply and possess high moral character, leadership ability, scholastic ability and an interest in government and current events. More than 250 students from across the state will take part. •Calhoun County Republican Women will meet Tuesday, June 4, at Jeffrey’s for their monthly meeting. Guest speaker will be Myles Russell, northern regional field representative for Sen. Roger Wicker. Meeting will start at 11 a.m. You may order in advance or place order when you arrive. Lunch is Dutch treat. Meeting is open to the public.

•DAVIDSON REUNION will be Sunday, June 9 at 10 a.m. at Bruce Community Building. All friends and relatives invited.

•HOUSTON HOMECOMING will be Saturday, June 29 at 5 p.m. on the east side of the Chickasaw County Courthouse. Veterans and children’s parade at 4:45 p.m. Food, entertainment and more. Fireworks at 9:15.

•CALHOUN CO. SADDLE CLUB all speed events and roping starting with jackpot barrels. Show dates are July 13, July 27, August 24, Sept. 14, Sept. 28. Oct. 12 and Oct. 26.
