•Yalobusha Historical Society will meet at the Casey Jones Museum, 105 Railroad Avenue, Water Valley, Thursday, Apr. 16, at 2 p.m. for its regular meeting.  Jack Gurner Sr. and Jack Gurner Jr. will be the tour guides. Visitors welcome.

•JUNIORETTES APPLICATIONS for 10th, 11th, 12th grade girls are available in the offices of Bruce High School and Calhoun Academy. Home-schooled girls may also apply. •Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery Association will have a work and clean up day at the cemetery Saturday, Apr. 18t starting at 9 a.m. All are invited  to help maintain and improve the grounds and the monuments.

•Mccormick reunion will be Sunday, Apr. 19 at the multi-purpose building in Pittsboro beginning at 11 a.m. Everyone is asked to bring a dish.

•PIECES AND PATCHES QUILT CLUB will meet Monday, Apr. 20 at 1 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Building. Everyone is welcome at attend.

•Create will meet Tuesday, Apr. 21 at 6 p.m. at the Multipurpose Building. The group will be decorating clay pots. You will need to bring your own pots, all other supplies will be provided. Call the Extension Service at 412-3177 to register. Supply fees will be announced.

•David Murphree Chapter Mississippi Society Sons of the American Revolution will meet Tuesday, Apr. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at Veracruz Restaurant. Guests welcome.

•QUICK BITES meets via video conference Thursday, Apr. 23 at noon at the Multi-Purpose Building in Pittsboro. Program is stomach troubles and a low-FODMAP diet. All are invited.

•SAREPTA SCHOOL REUNION will be Saturday, April 25 at 10:30 a.m. at Sarepta Baptist Church. Potluck lunch will be served. Bring a dish and enjoy the day.

•ANNUAL O.L. ALEXANDER reunion will be at noon on  Saturday, April 25 at the Vardaman Community Center on Hwy 341 north of Vardaman.

•CALHOUN COUNTY DEMOCRATS are invited to a 1st Congressional District meeting Saturday, April 25 at noon at the Calhoun County Courthouse in Pittsboro. Democrat Walter Zinn, a candidate for Congress, will be among the guest speakers. The public is invited to attend.

•CELEBRATE 20 YEARS WITH EXCEL on Sunday, April 26 at the Methodist Corner, 2-5 p.m. This event begins with a program followed by an open reception.  Individual invitations are not being sent. Come visit with folks involved with Excel over the years. Sr. Myra Weitl and Sr. Madonna Lang plan to attend. Parents, former students, teachers bring someone with you.  This is not a fundraiser, only a celebration.

•MASTER GARDENERS AND GARDENER’S DELIGHT will meet Monday, Apr. 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Building in Pittsboro. Guest speaker will be Dr. Lelia Kelly, MSU Extension Professor and Consumer Horticulture Specialists. She will talk about horticulture.

•MHV WORKDAY will be Tuesday, Apr. 28 beginning at 9 a.m. for all MHV members.

•QUICK BITES meets via video conference Thursday, Apr. 30 at noon at the Multi-Purpose Building in Pittsboro. Program Terrariums. All are invited.

•CALHOUN CARES 5K WALK/RUN Saturday, May 2 at 8 a.m. in Bruce. $25 to pre-register (by April 21 to guarantee t-shirt.) Race day registration 7-7:45 a.m. $30. •SOFTBALL CAMP Skills and Drills, sponsored by Bruce Softball Team, will be Saturday, May 2 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Camp is for ages 6-14. Lunch break at noon. Cost is $30. Bring money for snacks and sack lunch. Water provided. Bring gloves and equipment. •17th New Century Club Charity Golf Tournament  will be held Saturday, May 9 at Pine Hill Country Club in Calhoun City. It is a one day tournament beginning at 9 a.m. Two person scramble, $80 per team entry fee.  Lunch provided. Cash and prizes will be awarded to respective flights. •FREE ADULT READING AND WRITING HELP. Bruce First Baptist Church is offering free help to any adult who wants to learn to read or improve their reading ability. All tutors have been certified by the Mississippi Baptist Literacy Missions Board. The tutoring session will be once per week for one to one and a half hours and are confidential. Sessions will be held at a day and time to be arranged between the learner and the tutor. Each learner will be matched with one tutor. •CALHOUN COUNTY TRANSIT BUS (formerly LIFT bus) has routes available to Oxford, Pontotoc, Houston and Grenada for doctors’ appointments and to fill prescriptions. Ages 59 and under rate is $6. •DRIVER’S LICENSE RENEWAL station is open in Pittsboro every third Tuesday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the old tax assessor’s office/church building near the entrance to the Multi-Purpose Building on Hwy 9.
