•Yalobusha Historical Society will meet Thursday, May 21, at 2 p.m. in its headquarters the former Coffeeville Presbyterian Church. Oakland High School Class of 1950 will be guests. Speakers will be Lila Ann Wallace Stewart and Melvin Ford. Visitors are welcome.

•4-H Kids in the Kitchen club meeting will be Thursday, May 21 at 3:30 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Building in Pittsboro. Please call 662-412-3177 for more information.

•Calhoun City Public Library will be closed Saturday, May 23 through Monday, May 25 for Memorial Day. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday at noon.

•NEWMAN FAMILY REUNION will be May 23 from 10:30-3 at Turkey Creek Baptist Church, between Bruce and Water Valley. Bring food to share for lunch. Music and singing in the afternoon. Relatives and friends invited. For info, call Margaret Adams Browning 662-447-5893.

•BLAST FROM THE PAST will host their annual Memorial Day show at the American Legion in Calhoun City Monday, May 25 featuring Bobby Hood and Mike Hyde. Festivities will begin at 6 p.m. and supper will be served. There is no cost for the meal or admission. All are invited.

•Calhoun County Fair meeting will be Tuesday, May 26 at 6:30 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Building in Pittsboro. Contact the Calhoun County Extension Office at 412-3177 for more information.

•Adult Sewing Club will meet Tuesday, May 26 at 5 p.m. at the Multipurpose Building. They will be making a rag quilt. Space is limited, so please call the Calhoun County Extension Office (412-3177) by Friday, May 22 to register and to get the supply list.

•QUICK BITES will be Thursday, May 28 at noon at the Multi-Purpose Building in Pittsboro. Program will be Roses in the Landscape by Dr. Lelia Kelly, Consumer Horticulture Specialist.

•DAILY BREAD FOOD PANTRY is conducting a food drive and will be collecting monetary or dry goods  (beans, rice, flour, cereal, canned veggies) donations  May 30 at the Calhoun City SquareFest. Donations of either kind can also be made at Excel in Calhoun City or
St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Bruce between May 26 and June 5.

•CCHS CLASSES of 1965 and 1966 will have a joint reunion Saturday, May 30 at the Methodist Corner from 2 p.m. until. For info contact Lynn Dobbs 628-8500 or Jimmy Ball 628-5121.

•RUPERT LUNCEFORD of Calhoun City will celebrate his 90th birthday Saturday, June 6 at the Calhoun City First Baptist Church fellowship hall from 2-4 p.m. Everyone is invited. No gifts please.

• Sr. Judy Sinwell RECEPTION… Advisory Board and Staff of Excel will host a retirement reception for Sr. Judy Sinwell Sunday, June 7, 2015, 2-4:30 p.m. at the Excel building in Calhoun City.

•Derma VFD fundraiser will be Saturday, June 13, at 4 p.m. Chicken plates, cooked by Jamie Rutherford, will be sold for $8 each. Plates can be purchased in advance or the day of at the Fire Station.

•DAVIDSON REUNION will be Sunday, June 14 at Bruce Community Building starting at 10 a.m. All friends and relatives are invited.

•FREE ADULT READING AND WRITING HELP… Bruce First Baptist Church is offering free help to any adult who wants to learn to read or improve their reading ability. Tutors certified by the Mississippi Baptist Literacy Missions Board. Confidential tutoring sessions once per week for one to one and a half hours. Each learner will be matched with one tutor. No charge for the help, there is a small cost for the learning books. Call the office at Bruce First Baptist Church 983-2218 for information.

•NORth CALHOUn GRADUATES of 1952-1970 are raising funds to place a memorial stone on the grounds of the school in Bruce. An account has been set up by Leon Harris for donations at BancorpSouth, and the address for mailing is PO Box 368, Bruce, MS 38915.

•CALHOUN COUNTY TRANSIT BUS (formerly LIFT bus) has routes available to Oxford, Pontotoc, Houston and Grenada for doctors’ appointments and to fill prescriptions. Ages 59 and under rate is $6. •DRIVER’S LICENSE RENEWAL station is open in Pittsboro every third Tuesday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at the old tax assessor’s office/church building near the entrance to the Multi-Purpose Building on Hwy 9.
