The Calhoun County Career and Technical Center will begin offering a class to train people to become Certified Nurse Assistants.
Career Center Director Kyle Clark said the program will begin Sept.3 and conclude Dec. 17. The class will consist of 80 hours of instructional time, 20 hours of which will be clinical hours.
Applications are being accepted until Aug. 23 and can be picked up at the Career Center located on North Madison Street in Calhoun City.
The class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5-8 p.m. some weeks and 5-7 p.m. other weeks. A detailed class schedule is available at the Career Center.
Clark said they will approve 10 applicants for the first class. Admissions will be granted based on prior education, work experience, and references from employers.
The class will cost $150, $100 of which goes toward taking the CNA exam at the end of the class.
The teachers for the class will be Melissa Parker, the Health Science teacher at the Career Center, and Sheila Reemes, who is the education director at Calhoun Health Services.
