The Tombigbee Tribe, a 7U travel baseball club that includes three Calhoun County players, recently completed the 2012 Fall season with a state championship.
The Tribe, which includes Tatum Turner and Lane Stewart of Bruce, and Jude Hawkins of Calhoun City, finished the season 12-4 and won two of the four tournaments they competed in.
“I would like take the time to convey my deepest thanks to the people of Calhoun County for their support of our baseball team this past season,” Coach Tommy Baldwyn said. “All of the hard work we put in place during the summer paid off in a successful fall season which culminated in our team capturing the Fall State Championship. We are looking forward to the spring 2013 season and continued success for the Tribe team. All of this success and experiences these kids are receiving would not be possible without the tremendous outpouring of sponsorships provided by the people of Calhoun County. I cannot begin to thank you enough for your continued support in making this experience an enjoyable one for these boys.”
Tatum Turner is the son of Morgan and Will Turner of Bruce. Lane Stewart is the son of Heather and Chad Stewart of Bruce. Jude Hawkins is the son of Raven and Joey Hawkins of Calhoun City.
