Calhoun City teams make easy work of Strayhorn, advance to region semifinals

Calhoun City boys’ and girls’ easily earned first round wins Tuesday night at the Region 2-2A tournament in Walnut.

Destiny Bush scored 22 points for the Lady Wildcats in their win Tuesday night.

The Lady Wildcats rolled over Strayhorn 67-40 behind 22 points from Destiny Bush. V Farmer and Antonique Jennings each scored 10.

The Lady Wildcats will meet Bruce Thursday at 4 p.m. in the region semifinals. The winner will be guaranteed a home game next Monday night in the opening round of North Half.

The Wildcats also defeated Strayhorn, 73-54. Austin Burl led all scorers with 25 points. Chakel Gates scored 15.

Calhoun City will face Hickory Flat in the 8 p.m. game Thursday. Hickory Flat beat ‘City by three points in their only meeting of the season.

The winner will earn the home game next Tuesday in the opening round of North Half while the loser will be on the road.
