The Shockers defeated Southaven in a “nail-biter” to open World Series play. They were trailing 6-1 with two outs in the 5th inning when they rallied for five runs. They added five more in the sixth to win going away 11-6. They followed that with a blowout 14-1 win over Batesville.
Their lone loss of the tournament came against Pinella's Park Florida all-stars (4-3). The loss dropped the Shockers into the loser's bracket forcing them to beat the North Carolina state champs and an undefeated Pinella's Park team twice, all in one day. They never trailed in the three games on Sunday, defeating North Carolina 7-2 and then the Florida champions twice, 8-7 and 11-5.
Essence Armstrong was named World Series MVP.
