Johnny Armstrong and John Earl Armstrong cast the two votes against the firing.

Mayor Rudy Pope said the termination was due to destroying public property and various other reasons.

The board also acknowledged that long time city employee Robert McClora has retired. Another special meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 7:30 p.m. to hire a potential replacement.

No other information on Gray’s firing or the process of finding a replacement was available.
