Bruce Takes Two From ‘City, Again

They have been six of the most exciting, competitive basketball games anywhere this season. Each time Bruce and Calhoun City have met in boys’ and girls’ action this season it has come down to the wire.
Bruce has won five of the six match-ups. The only ‘City victory was a 2-point, triple overtime win for the Wildcat boys in Bruce.
Both Bruce teams won over ‘City at the Sweet Potato Tournament over the holidays. Last Friday they continued their rivalry at the Calhoun City gym.
The Lady Trojans required overtime to get by the host Lady Wildcats 58-56. ‘City rallied from an 11-point deficit at the half to force overtime before Bruce pulled it out.
‘City’s Ebony Williams led all scorers with 28 points. Other Lady Wildcat scorers were Yasmine Pulliam eight, Sarica Coffey seven, Shanae Fox six, Kalecia Herrod three, Diantrae Miller and Shayla Jones two each.
Jasmine Hampton led Bruce with 21 points, followed by Ranesha Stokes with 14, Morgan Vickery with 12, Quita Welch six, and Shevante Welch five.
It was the Bruce boys rallying for the victory in the nightcap. The Trojans outscored the home-standing Wildcats 25-13 in the fourth period to earn a 65-63 come-from-behind victory.
Shaunvanta Ingram led the way for the Trojans with 27 points. Marcell Gaston scored 14, Devin Tillman 12, Rod Harris nine, and Steven Brackett three.
Brandon Lawrence paced the Wildcats with 13, followed by Dylan Turner with 10, Ricky Whaley and Demarius Howard nine each, Dominique Cook eight, Marcus Jennings six, Charlie Easley and Taborris Coffey four each.
