The Bruce Trojans didn’t win a state championship last Saturday night against Hamilton, but the emotions couldn’t have been any more overwhelming if they had.

Addi Claire was a little confused about graduation night for Creative Learning Center Sunday night at Bruce First Baptist Church. She kept telling me they were going to have a “jumpy” thing and birthday cake for her– which she thinks every celebration will be.

Bruce and Calhoun City athletes competed at the North State Track Meet last weekend at Mississippi State University with several advancing to the state meet in Pearl May 12.

Selections were recently announced for 2-2A All Region honors in baseball and softball with 18 Bruce and Calhoun City athletes leading both teams.
Jimmy Lavon Zinn, 60, of Carrollton, Tx., died May 3, 2012 at his home. He was born December 3, 1951 in Bruce, the son of Jack Lavon and Erma Raye Reasons Zinn. He was a Baptist, served in the MS National Guard four years, was a graduate of Clarksdale High School class of 1969, attended Northwest MS Community and the University of Mississippi, and was an employee of Buzi Paper Distributing Co.
Annie Lee Brown, 85, of Bruce, died May 6, 2012 at Delta Regional Medical Center in Greenville. She was born July 10, 1926 in Calhoun County, the daughter of Eli and Inez Spencer Lafayette. She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist church, a fellow seamstress at Glenn Slacks Garment Co., and a homemaker.
