Danny Funderburg
Danny Gore Funderburg, 55, of Calhoun City, died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at the North MS Medical Center in Tupelo. The son of Ervin and Nancy Cannon Funderburg, he was born February 22, 1955 in Vardaman, and lived in Calhoun City his entire life. He was born with Down syndrome. He was well known throughout Calhoun County for his friendliness, caring and giving. Danny was always concerned about the sick, and his comments were, “I pray for you.” His love for everyone would always shine through because they were his “cousin.” He was a member of Pleasant Hill Church and was custodian there for many years. He attended Calhoun City School and Calhoun Academy. He went to work for his dad at the age of 16 at Funderburg Garage. At the retirement of his dad, they put in a store in Calhoun City, CC Blouse, which was Danny’s store. His desire was to work and meet people. His testimony for the Lord was giving out small booklets with verses of comfort, assurance and salvation at his store. He loved reading his Bible and gospel music. His sport was swimming. Danny’s faith, love, smile and hugs touched many people. Everyone who knew him, loved him.
