Trailing 14-13 with 46 seconds to play on their own 32 yard line, the Vardaman Rams showed no quit. QB Cody Jenkins unleashed a deep pass down the right sideline which Damon Johnson snatched out of the air, shaking off two Bruce Trojan defenders in the process, before ultimately being tackled at the 2-yard line. Jenkins took the shotgun snap on the next play and darted up the middle for the game-winning touchdown with barely 30 seconds left on the clock.

Supervisors Looking At Potential 2.57 Mill Increase

Calhoun County is currently projected to experience a 2.57 mill increase next year as supervisors continue budget deliberations. The board met for nearly five hours last Wednesday to discuss the budget. The board made several cuts to the originally proposed budget before settling on the 2.57 mill increase.
Frances Hardin Has No Regrets

Frances Hardin, of Calhoun City, can recall with great clarity the moment the United States entered World War II. She was working for Congressman Jamie Whitten in Washington, D.C. and had been invited to a professional football game.
“I had never been to a professional ball game before, so I thought why not,” Hardin said.
Not long into the game many in the crowd began noticing that numerous colonels, generals and other military officers were being called out of the stadium.
