Never Get Enough Calhoun County History
I’ve always been a sucker for history. I’ve tried many times to envision what it was like to go in the Bruce Company Store and have the cashier take my money and drop it in the container sliding back on the cable to the second story business office. I’ve tried to imagine what it must have been like at the depot with the train rolling through downtown Vardaman or the Calhoun City Square in the first half of the 20th Century when it was the center of business for so many. It’s that fascination that got me excited last week at Rotary when Debbie Dunn dropped an envelope in front of me and said, “I thought you’d enjoy that.”
