Derrick Warren Hitt, 50, of Calhoun City, died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009 at Marysville, Va. as the result of a train accident. He was born May 7, 1959 in McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Ks. He was a computer program analyst for Symetra Financial in Bellevue, Wa. He had lived in England, Wichita Falls, Tx., the Philippines, Albany, Ga., Topeka, Ks., Duluth, Mn., Columbus, Orlando, Fl., Charlotte, NC, Jackson, Atlanta, Ga., Memphis, Tn., and Calhoun City. He was a graduate of East Lowndes Academy and MS State?University with a BA?degree as a Computer Programming Analyst. He had resided in Marysville, Wa. since January 2007. He was a Baptist and earned the Eagle Scout award with the Pushmataha Area Council, BSA. He was known for his big heart and willingness to lend a helping hand.
Odessa Dean
Gertie Odessa Dean, 98, of Bruce, died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009 at Bruce Community Living Center. She was born October 18, 1911 in Chester (Choctaw County), the daughter of Joe Abb Biggers and Sarah Ethel Simpson Biggers. She was a member of Bruce First Baptist Church and WMU, and was a Sunday school teacher. She was a retired school teacher after 20 years teaching in Choctaw, Montgomery and Calhoun counties. She was a member of Retired Teachers Association, Order of the Eastern Star, Garden Club and Bruce Arts Club.
Kim Williams
Kimberly Jean Williams, 39, of Bruce, died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009 as the result of an auto accident in Bruce. She was born September 1, 1970 in Tupelo. She was a former employee of Wal-Mart in Grenada and a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Vardaman High School class of 1986.
