Lost A Friend In Jim Hugh Ray

March 29, 2007 – I lost a very good and dear friend earlier this month with the death of Tupelo attorney Jim Hugh Ray.
I knew about him a long time before I ever met him. He grew up in
Corinth, along with his brother, former U.S. Attorney H.M. Ray, who
resided in Oxford for years, and who I met long before I met Mr. Jim
Hugh.

Earline Collins

Earline Collins of Bruce learned to cook from her mother, Janie Beckett, who
she says was a good cook. Mrs. Earline still occasionally uses her
mother’s recipes for egg custard, and icebox pickles. She has always
loved to cook, but doesn’t do as much as she used to. Although she has
a good collection of cookbooks, she has made a notebook of her
favorites to keep them handy.

Relaxing Behind The Wheel Of My John Deere

The turn of the key. The hum of the engine and that unmistakable, wonderful smell of a fresh cut lawn. Last Saturday, I hopped on the John Deere for the first real lawn
mowing of 2009. Granted the lawns I’m responsible for are more weeds
than grass, as there is no true grass that needs cutting just yet, but
it needed doing just the same and I was glad for it. I don’t look at cutting the grass as a chore ruining my plans for the day. I actually look forward to it – always have.
